The Alps are Magic, Part 1: Switzerland

Instead of reposting all my photos and stories here to my shiny new domain, I thought I'd make just a few posts organized by time period and topic with links to the original content on my previous travel blog, hosted on Tumblr.

In 2015, my friend Jess and I went on an amazing trip to Switzerland. When we were bumped from an overbooked flight, we were horrified at the thought that our much-needed escape from work in Madrid was falling apart before it had begun.

However, getting kicked off the plane turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Iberia paid for a hotel near the airport, put us on the first flight Friday morning, and agreed to change our return ticket from Sunday morning to Sunday evening, recovering much of the time that we lost. This also meant that we postponed the hike we planned for Friday and did it Saturday instead. Those five hours on Saturday happened to be the only sunny spell in a weekend of pouring rain, so the timing for the hike was perfect. On top of all that, when you're bumped from an Iberia flight, they also give you 250 Euros in cash (each!) which made our trip essentially free.
